My Story

Meet the Maker

Hello there! I'm Lana, owner and creative mind behind gabe+olive handmade. The clothing you purchase here has a story, a well thought out process from choice of fabrics, the pattern and of course the time and love going into each handmade piece.

I'm married to my very supportive husband and a busy mama to our two littles - Gabe and Olive - who are my inspiration every single day. I started out by upcycling my old clothing to create new pieces for my kids to wear. Through this, I realized very quickly that I had a passion for sewing which was the inception of gabe + olive handmade. What started off as a passion project, quickly escalated to sewing clothing for others. It gives me so much joy (seriously my heart does a little cartwheel) seeing others wear my creations  and that people appreciate the time, design and materials that have gone into each item! I love slow fashion and what it offers,  ethically made with sustainable fabrics.   Like myself, my suppliers are primarily  small, locally owned shops! In supporting gabe+olive handmade,  you are also supporting other small Canadian businesses! I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to do what I love and to share that with all of you!
